Use the Right Word--Affect or Effect

When you use the wrong word, you damage  your credibility, and people question your expertise.

Affect = to influence something (verb) -- “The movie didn’t affect me at all.” Effect = result or outcome (noun) -- “Water pollution is an effect of pesticide use.” Effect = to bring about or cause (verb) -- “The doctor tried to effect a change in my diet.”
